What a waste…

I can design web sites. I love designing web sites. I have a Postgraduate Diploma in IT which has, in brackets something like “Specialised in Web Development”, although I also “specialised” in Programming. But I’m not used to designing web sites, because I never managed to get myself a job doing it and couldn’t motivate myself to do it for no reason other than because I wanted to for any longer than about 5 years.

I would kill to be working in web development in even a small capacity. When I was studying and designing for fun, I always paid close attention to standards, CSS and accessibility – ideals which are only nowadays enjoying the attention they deserve.

I lack the self belief to go out and sell my skills to someone for their hard-earned cash, otherwise I could brass neck it and start using my hard-earned skills to improve my life and theirs.

It’s Friday so I must be listening to KISS..

and I am.

I just created an iTunes account and downloaded my favourite KISS track – Detroit Rock City. I picked the live version from Alive III, an album released during what old time KISS fans call “The PISS Years”, i.e there was no Ace Frehley (swoon) or Peter Criss in the band. The reason I wanted this track is simply because it’s the only version of the song I’ve never heard.

I’m also listening to Tears Are Falling, classic PISS, but which I LOVE the video of. Paul Stanley does some particularly impressive mincing in it.

Hasn’t anyone created a KISS font, yet?

Oh Gawd, I still love Ace Frehley after….over 30 years…A state of affairs even scarier than ever now since he’s started looking like my Dad, in addition to drinking like him.

Home From Home

I made the long and arduous journey from my country to my partner’s a few days ago and that was much easier for me than it ever has been before. I have always hated that journey so much that I would feel physically sick the night before and on the day itself to the extent that I often felt I couldn’t make the journey at all. This time, I was able to skip thinking about the journey and just look forward to being reunited with my partner. I feel and sound more positive generally.
