/note to self – I TOLD you people suck!
November 30, 2007
I got an email recently from this guy – http://neotradlibrarian.wordpress.com/ – which I, at first, thought had been sent to me in error. It was a curt, functional request for the code that produces the Librarything widget on my front page. The tone of the mail made me think it had been intended for WordPress Support, whose job it is to respond to mails like his and had been sent to me by mistake. The reason I thought this was that, although the code was exactly what he had been looking for and he had been looking for it for ages, the email had not a single solitary word resembling anything like “please” in it!
Now, as many of you will be aware, it’s a huge understatement for me to say that I’m not a great lover of people and normally I would have, at the very least, deleted his mail and moved on to the next asshole in life, but I was feeling spectacularly benificent that day and I sent a rather lovely reply including the code for both my Librarything widgets as Mr Neotraditional had failed to specify which code he wanted. It took me quite a while to find the code I used and I also included some links to pages he would find useful at Librarything, so, all in all, I think he did very well out of me.
Now here we are, weeks later and he hasn’t even sent me an acknowledgement that he got my reply, let alone a thank you. How f*****g RUDE, but a timely reminder that:
MOST PEOPLE DO INDEED SUCK!
