Daughter guilty of killing mother
A woman and her boyfriend have been found guilty of killing her mother and dumping her body in a burn.
Anne Brown’s body was recovered from Clerkland Burn in Ayrshire last October. The 51-year-old had been beaten to death.
At the High Court in Glasgow, Lisa Brown was found guilty of murder and John Wilson was found guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide.
Judge Lord Matthews said they had been convicted of an “appalling crime”.
He warned Lisa Brown she would be going to prison for a long time.
The trial heard that the couple travelled to Anne Brown’s home in Burnhouse because of a dispute over Lisa Brown’s son, who her mother cared for.
Brown then battered her mother with a blunt object, thought to have been a foot-long torch, inflicting 49 injuries on her mother’s face and neck.
“ We feel it is reprehensible that neither of the accused in this tragic case has expressed any remorse for their part in this heinous crime ”

In court Wilson admitted helping his girlfriend put the body into a sleeping bag and a builder’s sack, which they tied up with twine and a chain.
They then drove to Clerkland Burn, with the 20-month-old toddler in the car, and dumped the body.
After the verdict Anne Brown’s brother Michael Elliot issued a statement on behalf of the family.
He said: “I would like to place on record my disgust at the image portrayed of my sister Anne in court which I neither acknowledge nor recognise.
“Our abiding memory of Anne is of a warm, loving and giving person who would always help anyone in distress, sometimes to her own detriment.
“She was a loving daughter, sister and mother who gave selflessly of herself to those close to her.”
He added: “We will miss her terribly and feel no sentence can be adequate to compensate us for her loss.
“We feel it is reprehensible that neither of the accused in this tragic case has expressed any remorse for their part in this heinous crime.
“Neither has either of the accused shown any recognition of the impact the tissue of lies that has been offered to defend the indefensible has had on our family.”
The couple had both been charged with the murder of Anne Brown and had both lodged special defences, blaming each other.
Geri Watt, area procurator fiscal for Ayrshire, said: “This was a particularly callous murder.
“There were no eye witnesses to the crime and both accused continually denied responsibility.
“However they have been brought to justice as a result of police and prosecutors working effectively together.”
Reported missing
Anne Brown’s mother reported her, and her 20 month-old grandson, missing on 22nd October 2008.
The toddler was traced safe and well to Lisa Brown and John Wilson’s flat in Maryhill in Glasgow days later.
When a car found abandoned near Connaught Farm in Ayrshire was linked to Anne Brown’s disappearance the police search was scaled up.
Her body was recovered from Clerkland Burn on 24 October.
Det Ch Insp Peter McPike from Strathclyde Police led the police investigation into Anne Brown’s disappearance and murder.
He said: “Hopefully today’s verdict will go some way to helping Anne Brown’s mother and brother put the horror of the last nine months behind them.
“It is very difficult to imagine the anger they must be feeling, especially given that it was a member of their own family that was responsible for Anne’s death.
“This crime shocked the entire community.”

Baby cut from mother found alive
A baby who was cut from her mother’s womb has been found alive two days after the woman’s body was discovered, US police have said. A woman who had the baby with her when found in New Hampshire was charged with being a fugitive from justice. The girl was said to be in “fairly good health,” according to Worcester police Sergeant Kerry Hazelhurst.
Her 23-year-old mother’s body was found in her apartment and she had apparently been dead for days, police said. Police named the arrested woman as Julie Corey, 35. She was arrested at a shelter in Plymouth, New Hampshire, after staff became suspicious of her and notified police.
She had told staff she was the mother of the six-day-old baby, the Union Leader newspaper reported. A male companion with her at the time was questioned by police, but has not been charged, the Boston Globe newspaper reported. Ms Haynes’ was found in her apartment in Massachusetts on Monday after her landlord noticed a “horrifying smell”.
A post-mortem examination revealed that her foetus was missing, and that she had head injuries, but the exact cause of death has yet to be determined. Toxicology tests were being carried out, Worcester Police Detective Captain Edward McGinn Jr said.
The last known contact anyone had with Ms Haynes was a week ago when she sent a text message to a friend saying she was having drinks with a friend in her apartment.
It is not the first such case in the US. Lisa Montgomery was convicted two years ago of murdering Bobbi Jo Stinnett, whose foetus she removed. The baby girl survived.
US FOETUS ABDUCTION CASES
I’ve recently been reading some accounts of pregnant women being murdered and their unborn babies being cut out of their wombs. What most horrifies and perplexes me is that it is WOMEN who are committing these horrendous acts.
It seems that the urge to have a child is so strong in some women that they are compelled to become murderers in order to do so. Maternal instinct gone pathological. There have been 10 of these cases in the US since 1987.
19 year old Darci Pierce, who committed her crime in 1987, was found guilty but mentally ill and was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison. Surely mentally ill people should be sent to mental hospitals? What in god’s name is a young, mentally ill teenager being given such a stonkingly long prison sentence for? Oh I get it, woman committing crime against children…..lock her up and throw the key away regardless….that will help…

I resorted to profanity in my last email to them asking them to unsub me. What’s your bet they get back to me and tell me that profanity is unnecessary and that I have now been unsubscribed?

It happened because most people are assholes. I mean take this prime example of the selfish human gene – “I thought: ‘This is very odd’. But we did it and went to Wimbledon.” Of course people will park where they aren’t supposed to. They do it on roads all the time! Why would consecrated ground be any different for these idiots?
And why does donating money to charity make allowing graveyards to be used as car parks okay?

The people who take care of Commonwealth war graves say that people behave with common sense in graveyards, in an article telling us they have picnics on top of graves! Where’s the common sense in having such faith in human nature?
I love graveyards and I always behave respectfully in them, tidying up people’s graves and flowers and so on, but we can’t rely on everyone having a sense of respect for the dead. Ergo those upper-middle class twats who park on graves despite thinking it odd because they simply MUST drive to Wimbledon. And, please note they didn’t think what they were doing was odd but that they were being allowed to do it, in other words “it wasn’t our fault!”

I always wondered why the Hubble telescope never picked up any of the landing sites, but of course it would have to have been pointed at them and NASA would have had to have a compelling reason to do that, plus the Hubble may not have been powerful enough, although I find this hard to believe.
The images are awesome and really give a hint of the scale of things up there.
I wonder of these images will silence the Moan Landings Are A Hoax brigade?

People Are Stupid Part Deux Thousand

I’m watching a TV show in the UK called Jeremy Kyle which has guests on who have severely fucked up lives either by their own doing or at the hands of Fate.
Two teenagers are on right now discussing whether or not he is the father of her child. She has just stated that she was 100% sure he was but now admits to being only 50% sure. When asked why she has changed her mind, she replied “because of what he keeps saying”. She was asked again and said “because of the way he’s acting, saying he’s not the dad”.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh? If she starts doubting he might be the father because he keeps saying he isn’t I am not at all surprised that she has ended up pregnant twice at 18, having a history of cheating on her partner and appearing on the Jeremy Kyle show.
