I am saddened and dismayed at my government’s decision to free the man convicted of the Lockerbie Bombing.

This man, if he is indeed guilty, and our justice system must believe that he is, is the worst murderer in UK history.  However, it is part of Scottish law that if a prisoner has less than 3 months to live, they are allowed to be freed on compassionate grounds

I think that he should have been left to die in prison.

What saddens me more than this however is the reaction to his return of the Libyan people. Irrespective of his guilt or innocence, he is not a hero.

DVD Description

Great music, a superb cast and a fantastic dark and witty script took this 1987 multi-BAFTA winning series to number 82 in the BFI’s top TV programmes of all time – and made household names of its stars, Robbie Coltrane (Cracker) and future Oscar winner, Emma Thompson.

The series follows the fortunes of rock and roll band The Majestics – Scotland’s very own heroes of the 1960s beat boom – who re-group to play a 25th anniversary tour. Despite the death of lead singer Jazza McGlone in a freak car crash, band manager Eddie Clockerty is still determined to re-create the Majestic’s halcyon days. So, in his place, the group’s manager Eddie Clockerty recruits Jazza’s less-than-enthusiastic younger brother Danny.

As the group performs in some of Scotland’s less salubrious clubs and pubs, it seems their personal disagreements and private tragedies will force the band to disintegrate. Is there any way the self-styled ‘Kings of Rock and Roll’ can avoid a slow self-destruction and recapture their former glories?

At least 26 people were injured when a Continental Airlines jet hit “extreme turbulence” and made an emergency landing in Miami, officials said.
The Boeing 767 had been travelling from Rio de Janeiro to Houston when it encountered trouble north of the Dominican Republic at about 0830 GMT.
Passengers reported a sudden drop that threw some people against the roof. Four people were seriously injured, while the other 22 suffered bumps and bruises, a fire service spokesman said.
Investigation
Continental Flight 128 had been cruising at 11,600m (38,000ft) when it hit extreme turbulence about 80km (50 miles) north of the Dominican Republic, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said.
“The plane just dropped,” 18-year-old Carolina Portella said. “I just grabbed the hand of the person next to me and held on.”
Another passenger, Fabio Ottolini, said some flight attendants who were standing in the aisles when the turbulence hit were thrown against the roof.
“People didn’t have time to do anything,” AP news agency quoted him as saying.
The pilot declared an emergency and diverted to Miami, where the plane landed at 0535 local time (0935 GMT).
Airline catering lorries with hydraulic lifts were reportedly used by rescue crews to get those hurt off the plane as quickly as possible.
Fourteen people were taken to local hospitals, four with serious neck and back injuries.
Those with minor injuries were flown to Houston later along with the remaining passengers. There had been a total of 168 passengers and 11 crew on board, officials said.
An investigation into the incident is expected to begin shortly.

If the passengers had been wearing their seatbelts, they wouldn’t have been thrown against the roof and sustasined serious back and neck injuries, now would they? They will wear their seatbelts from now on though. If they ever get back on a plane.

Youth in court over bleach attack

A 16-year-old boy has appeared in court in connection with a bleach attack on a woman who asked a group of youths to be quiet in a cinema.

The 46-year-old had bleach thrown in her face in a restaurant after earlier asking the group to be quiet during the new Harry Potter film.

The boy was arrested after the incident on 26 July in Kirkstall Road, Leeds.

He was remanded in custody at Leeds Youth Court charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The teenager will appear next before Leeds Magistrates’ Court via video link on 7 August.

An application for bail was refused.

Another youth who was arrested on Saturday has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

The woman was attacked at a Frankie and Benny’s restaurant in front of her husband and two children after she asked a group of teenagers to stop making noise during a screening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the Vue cinema.

Yet another little rat with an over-inflated sense of entitlement, no doubt perpetuated by its parents who won’t have a bad word said about their little darling, who is as good as gold and never does anything wrong and, even if he does, he doesn’t.

WTF is wrong with being asked to keep the noise down when you’re acting like a tit at the cinema. And I’m certain he WAS acting like a tit.

Is this another example of a kid who thinks the worst thing in the world is when someone “disses” him and who believes that shooting the “offender”stone dead  is a legitimate punishment for the so-called offence?

It’s in cases like this that I wish the punishment was the same as the offence. And yes, I would volunteer to chuck the bleach over the little shite.
